On 18 Jan 2012 a meeting with the new Deputy Minister of Justice Velina Todorova was held. The meeting was short and aimed at clarifying the further guidelines in the development of intercountry adoptions. Deputy Minister Todorova expressed her complete agreement with and support for the work of the Intercountry Adoptions Directorate, the Intercountry Adoption Council, the accredited organizations and all the other institution, involved in the process. Ms. Todorova declared her readiness and wish to optimize the process of intercountry adoption and she gave her promise to work completely and only in children's interest. She explained that for her, the work on protecting the interest of children has so far had mainly a scientific aspect, and now she will make her contribution to the practical aspect of this process. Ms. Todorova promised to organize a working meeting soon so that all the problems, which were only outlined during this first meeting, can be discussed.
