We have just returned home with our beautiful 2 year old son. My husband and I are not travellers, so the thought of flying halfway across the world and spending a week in a strange country where we didn’t know the language was intimidating to us, but FNA took excellent care of us. They made sure we had what we needed, had our paperwork in very good order, and helped everything run smoothly. They were readily available whenever we had questions, and treated us with friendliness, kindness, patience, and professionalism.
We would highly recommend them to anyone looking to adopt. Thank you!

Thank you to both Michael and Nadya for their amazing company, so sweet and helpful during both of our trips to Bulgaria. By the end of our trips we felt we had made two new friends. It was a joy to explore our son's country, and to know the second time around that we would be bringing him home. We were comfortable while in Bulgaria, and mostly because of our wonderful attendants. We are so thankful to have been able to walk through our journey of adoption with FNA. We are forever grateful and continue to smile when we remember our fond memories in Bulgaria! Bless you all!

Before our first trip, I was really concerned with how we would communicate with our son and get around in country. But FNA had it all taken care of. They met us at the airport and never left our side. They knew the ins and outs of the process and were professional in everything they did. They helped us with our son, gave good advice, had everything well planned out and spoke English as if it was their first language. We couldn't be more pleased with how the week went and I look forward to returning for Trip 2 and working with them again.

I cannot say enough great things about FNA! Especially while we were in country, they were there for us and were on top of things. They had great communication with our US agency, so we always knew what was going on. Our attendants were the best! Thank you for helping us complete our family!

The staff at FNA, and especially Maggie, are true professionals that have a love and passion for Children. I believe their love and passion was the key to success in adopting our teenage girls. After 8 months with our new daughters my wife and I have no regrets. Adopting teenage girls has been a blessing. I am constantly telling my girls how beautiful, kind, smart, and precious they are. They bring us so much joy. We are so happy we took the risk and adopted teenagers. Yes there are difficulties but these difficulties are worth it. My son and I have been home for three months now and everything is going wonderfully. I went through the process as a single mother, traveling alone to pick up my son and I can't imagine doing it without FNA. Not only did they handle absolutely everything before I arrived but Marietta was an absolute life-saver when I was in Bulgaria, helping me not only when I was with her but also when unexpected needs came up during my visits. And she was so helpful and encouraging to me as I was going through those first few days as a new mom with a son who was trying to deal with enormous life changes without the vocabulary or life experience to handle it. Marietta's help was pivotal to making those first weeks in Bulgaria and home a success. Every step of the way FNA made this experience great. They are an invaluable asset to anyone seeking to adopt from Bulgaria.

We have been home 2 months with our newest addition who is 14 years old. He is an absolute joy and wonderful addition to our family. He is so very kind, compassionate, well-behaved, and loving. He has embraced being a big brother to his younger siblings, 6 and 8, and a younger brother to his 17 year old brother who has severe mental and physical handicaps. He wants so much to help with the other children in our home and constantly asks what he can do to help us around the house. He follows directions very well and wants to please us. Our adoption was made so much easier with the help of FNA and especially Miglena! Adopting a teenager has been a wonderful experience and we highly recommend others consider this age as well. He has been nothing but loving with his siblings and wants to show and teach them everything he can! We believe that the adoption has gone so smoothly because at his age he knows and understands adoption, the processes, and can better understand the emotions involved with the transition. This has helped tremendously for a smooth transition for our family. Please considering adopting a teen!

We just recently completed our second Bulgarian adoption through FNA and brought our son (just turned 4) home on August 14 and could not be happier. Thank you Angela and staff, in particular Miglena! You all are the best and have made so many families happy!

From the first time we saw the photo of our boy and the sparkle in his eyes, we knew he was going to be our son. Being that both my husband and I are land-loving homebodies however meant that we were going to be stepping far out of our comfort zone to go halfway across the world and meet him. Miglena was gracious in explaining customs, showing us the town and interpreting on our behalf. She helped us in every imaginable way and we thoroughly enjoyed watching her interact with our son in a genuine, loving manner. It was a relief to not only to have Miglena by our side every step of the way but to meet our son for the first time. Medical jargon can't capture the true spirit and spunk of a child and his zest for life couldn't be translated into words. It has been comforting to have those moments with him to look back on as we await our court date and then pick up trip. We would highly recommend Family National and have been to friends who are interested in Bulgarian adoption.

Words can't express how thrilled I was to meet my little boy on Monday! I appreciate so much, the help and support I received from Illiana at Family National Association this week to learn about my little boy from his caregivers. Even more exciting were all of the special activities that Illiana helped arrange that allowed my little boy and me not only to get acquainted, but to start creating wonderful memories together! We knew we were completely in love with Tabitha the first time we saw her picture, but after a week in Sofia with Meglina as our guide we have fallen in love with her and your lovely city as well. We were treated with great kindness and very much enjoyed learning more about Sofia and Bulgaria as a whole. Thank you for everything, especially for helping us find our precious girl. We can't wait to return for her and are hoping so much that Meglina will be able to finish this journey with us. Thank you for your commitment to the abandoned children of the world and those of us longing to bring them home.

This is our second trip back to Bulgaria to pick up our son Iliyan from Shumen. We had our representative Yoana accompany us for this trip from the National Family Association. Although our Boy Iliyan was being prepared for his journey with us from his Foster Parents with pictures that we had left with them from our first trip, he was still wanting to see his little picture album to make sure that it was us which we all found very funny. Within a half our Iliyan was on his way back with us to Sofia so that we could prepare for our journey back home. Iliyan had struggled with idea of leaving his Foster Parents for the first couple of days but adjusted rather quickly to us as his new parents which was a wonderful feeling and a blessing. Within eight days of our arrival we had all our required documentation which gave us a great feeling of closure. Once again we would like to thank everyone at Family National for all the support and for helping us through this entire process.

We have been in the process of adopting Yulian for over a year , it has culminated in our trip to Stara Zagora. Our trip here has been the easiest part of the process due to our wonderful patient and friendly interpreter Sveti. Sveti has become in the short time that we have been here like a family member. I worked with Sveti as I am adopting a 9 year old girl from Lukovit. She has been very professional, organized, and knowledgable with all aspects of my adoption and my first trip visit to the orphanage. I would highly recommend this agency to anyone considering adoption.

We have just returned home with our 4 year old daughter from Razgrad. We received our referral on October 3 and traveled to see her for the first time on October 9-15. Gotcha Day was May 7, 2012. We could not be happier with FNA! Our translator was amazing and truly got to know us and took excellent care of us! Despite the lengthy process, we could not be more pleased! We wish to thank the entire staff of FNA one last time for all of their work and dedication in our case, and all of the others they are working on. Thanks again Angela, Maggie, Nadia, Nina, and all of the rest!!

I finally met my beautiful baby girl after waiting for four long years. She is precious and I am so impressed with the orphanage. It is clean and the workers take wonderful care of the children. My translator was there for me at all times and took care of my every need. She made it worth the trip and seeing the baby made it worth every minute of the wait.

After our flight and the incredible hospitality in Bulgaria we were able to meet for the first time Iliyan. The introduction was seamless and his foster parents were very accommodating at all times. On our first visit we were introduced as friends and from that day on we were slowly being Integrated into Iliyan's life as his new parents which is one of the most endearing and incredible feelings that one could possibly experience. A special Thank you to Elena Georgiev from Loving Heart Adoptions who has made this a reality for us. The Family National Association is the incredible arm for the adoption process in Bulgaria, they have been most accommodating and real pleasure to work with. Miglena who has represented The Family National Association here in Bulgaria and who has traveled throughout this trip with us had made this experience a very positive and informative one. Her caring and helpful ways are so important during these time. Thank you once again to everyone for making this first trip to Bulgaria a most enjoyable one and we are definitely looking forward to our second trip back to Bulgaria when we go to bring Iliyan back home to Canada with us.

My 5 year old son came home from Bulgaria in Dec 2011. Family National Association handled my adoption along with Children's House International (US side) in a timely, professional, straight forward and open manner. Our beautiful daughter, Olivia, is home! We waited for almost 2 years to bring her home, and we are so grateful to finally have her here. We made two trips to Bulgaria. During the first trip, we flew into Varna because our daughter was located in the city of Shumen. Shumen is about 5 hours from Sofia. We spent a week with Olivia, her foster mother, local social workers and our attendant, Bistra. Our attendant worked with Family National, and she was fantastic. Always patient, thorough and prepared. During our second trip, Svetla met us at the airport as planned. We all drove from Sofia to Shumen in a huge snow storm. What an adventure! Svetla, Nadya, Nina and Maggie were with us as we prepared to bring Olivia home. Between legal documents, meetings, appointments or even sight-seeing, they were all fantastic. Thank you for helping us bring Olivia home!

We first visited our son in April of 2010 and finally brought him home the following September. Family National Association (and An Open Door Adoption Agency, USA) did a wonderful job coordinating every detail for both of our stays in Bulgaria. They found a great apartment for us to stay in (clean and safe). Our translator/guide was amazing and went above and beyond our expectations. She took the time to get to know us and was able to seamlessly accomodate our needs and desires, whether it was helping with our orphanage visits or touring the city. The staff of both agencies were professional and yet personable. They responded to all our questions in a timely manner. They made the adoption of our son as efficient and pleasurable as possible.
